Sonoco Alcore® to Attend IPACK-IMA 2012

Company will launch M-CORE™ HT and Adaptor Core products for the
paper mill segment

23/02/2012 — MILAN — (BUSINESS WIRE)

Sonoco
Alcore
, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sonoco (NYSE: SON), one of the
largest diversified global packaging companies, plans to launch its
M-Core HT and Adaptor Core products at the IPACK-IMA
2012
exhibition from Feb. 28 – Mar. 3, 2012. Focused on processing,
packaging and material handling technology, IPACK-IMA attracts over
54,000 visitors annually, with nearly a third attending from countries
outside of Italy. Sonoco Alcore will be located in Hall 18, stand
G11-F12.

As part of the IPACK-IMA innovation corner, Sonoco Alcore will deliver a
presentation regarding radial crush in the film industry and tracking
core re-usability in the tissue segment, scheduled for Wed., Feb. 29, at
4 p.m. ET, in Hall 18, stand 18.

Adam Wood, vice president, Industrial Converting Europe, said, “IPACK
IMA 2012 provides us with an opportunity to support our Italian and
export customers, as well as showcase our full product range.
Additionally, this exhibition is an ideal opportunity to officially
launch the M-Core HT and the Adaptor Core in front of an
international audience.”

M-Core HT

The M-Core HT is part of the successful M-Core series of Paper
Mill cores, designed to manage unprecedented winding speeds and reel
widths within the printing industry. Offering reduced centre bursts and
elongation during winding/unwinding, the M-Core HT improves reel
structure and runnability.

Adaptor Core

The Adaptor Core is designed to allow paper mills using a double-drum
winder to continuously wind cores even when their customers require
varying core diameters. This allows paper producers to mix 76mm and
150mm core diameters, enabling a continuous production process,
improving efficiency, increasing the safety margin in printing speeds
and reducing rewinding costs.

Sonoco Alcore will also feature its SR-350 and VR-500 tissue paper
cores, which not only handle fast winding speeds, but also deliver up to
25 reuses, improving productivity. Additionally, the Company will
showcase its Intellicore™, which uses Radio-Frequency Identification
(RFID) to track core reuse and roll inventory, streamlining production
in real time.
