ExxonMobil Announces Slagen Refinery Project to Upgrade Fuel Oil
ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Norge AS announced today plans to install a new processing unit at the Slagen refinery to enable production of high quality vacuum gas oil, a higher-yield feedstock used to create finished products such as diesel. The new residual flash tower is an upgrading unit that will improve the facility’s overall crude distillation process by replacing production of heavy fuel oil with lighter, higher-value gas oil.

Enova to invest NOK 1.55 billion in Hydro’s pilot plant at Karmøy, Norway
The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy’s energy enterprise, Enova SF, has pledged NOK 1.55 billion in investment backing for a pilot to trial Hydro’s new aluminium production technology. Provided the EFTA Surveillance Authority (ESA) approves the investment, the subsidy will help to ensure that future production of aluminium will be both more energy-efficient and climate-friendly.

The purpose of the competition is to seek and review next-generation sustainable housing technology and communicating that technology to global society. The top three universities chosen from twelve participating universities in nine countries for the Open Final Screening gave presentations, and University of California, Berkeley’s NEST WE GROW was selected as the winner.
