WebNotarius®: Electronic Signature without Limits!

06/10/2010 — SZCZECIN, Poland — (BUSINESS WIRE)

Since September 27, 2010, you can use the latest version of WebNotarius® – the very first widely available and free of charge (basic version) validation service enabling verification of certificates, electronic documents and the validity of electronic signatures used in the European Union.

The service is provided by Polish qualified Certification Authority – “CERTUM General Certification Authority” owned by Unizeto Technologies SA. To deliver the service WebNotarius®, CERTUM uses the TSL lists (“trusted list of accredited certification service providers”) published by all European Union countries. This gives all Internet users the opportunity to check the status of any of over 400 different certificates issued in the EU market.

“It is a real breakthrough in the use of electronic signatures on the Community market and, thanks to an agreement contained separately, in the Russian Federation” – says Andrzej Bendig-Wielowiejski, CEO of Unizeto Technologies SA. – By providing the WebNotarius® service we have eliminated borders and barriers related to electronic signatures use in the territory from Lisbon to Vladivostok. Until now in order to verify e-signatures it was required to use specific software recommended by each of the nearly hundreds of working CAs in the European Union and the next several CAs operating in the Russian Federation. The use of many different programs, requiring updates to verify electronic signatures is very inconvenient, especially for public administration and the cross-border business. In addition, these applications are usually limited for selected operating systems only. Now, thanks to WebNotarius®, every Internet user, can easily check the status and validity of electronic signature or certificate using any web browser, regardless of the country of origin. WebNotarius® is an important step towards ensuring full interoperability of electronic signatures across Europe and other continents.

The service is also available free of charge through the popular SOAP protocol. This enables easy integration with any IT system, therefore allowing for the full automation of the verification process of certificates and electronic signatures. This is particularly important for software developers, as can significantly reduce costs and implementation time of support for the signed electronic document in IT systems.
